Our Trip(s) to the SC State Fair!

These pictures are from our second visit to the SC State Fair. Our first visit was in the rain and our camera battery died, so there are no cute pictures of Micah in his cute yellow rain coat. :( Maybe next time. Anyway, our original plan was to take the girls to the fair the first night it opened, because it is only $1 for admission. However, it was raining (not too hard, but steady) and the girls decided they did not want to experience the fair in the rain. It was supposed to be our evening off, so we decided to go anyway. We had a great time! Attendance was low, so no crowds, we had some good food (Andrew sampled fried corn on the cob - it does not have any breading, but definitely tastes like it's been fried!), saw some of the fair entries, looked at the ducks, chickens, pheasants, and peacocks (I thought of you Mom!!), and took Micah through the petting zoo, where he looked but did not touch! We got a little damp, but the rain really wasn't too bad.

The Fair actually runs for a week and a half, so we took our girls on Saturday morning, October 18th. On Saturday they offered rides two for the price of one, and our girls were definitely interested in the rides! (We were not. Fairs should not have rides!) We had not put Micah in his carrier yet when we went into one of the exhibition halls, and he was very antsy to get down and play. The carpet looked VERY clean, so we set him free, and he crawled and laughed, and smiled big smiles at people as they passed by!

Here's Daddy & Micah on the tractor. Right after I took this picture, a kind gentleman came up to me and asked me if I would like to get in the picture with them, and that's how we got the picture above. Gotta love Southern Hospitality!!

After two hours of seeing the fair (AGAIN!) Micah was pooped. He was so tired that after he ate, we put him back in the carrier and he conked right out!

We were tired too! We had pretty much seen what we wanted to see with an hour left, so we got an Elephant Ear and snacked while we rested on a bench. To our great surprise, Micah stayed asleep. He made sleeping while standing up look easy!! We met our girls at 1:00 to head back to campus in time for the mall bus. They all really enjoyed the fair, and most of them were too tired to go to the mall after all! We had a very quiet house that afternoon!
