Trip to Savannah

This spring we took a long weekend trip to Savannah. The city is absolutely beautiful, but looking back on our pictures, I realized we did not capture that at all, nor did we get a family picture....we just took pictures of Micah having fun! Friday night we got "the best chicken fingers ever" at Barnes (admittedly, they were very good!) and had some fabulous ice cream downtown at this place that had a very interesting history! I forget the name, but it was where tutti-fruiti ice cream originated, and the owner, who reopened his family's business after many years of being closed, was a famous Hollywood director. Micah got his own ice cream cup and loved every spoonful! He was a mess - I thought for sure we had a picture, but if we did it has disappeared.


Saturday we walked around Savannah some more, taking in the beautiful architecture. When Micah was getting antsy, we headed to the park, which used to be a military barracks. It had a great play area just for kids Micah's age. He loved it!!


When we planned our trip, we didn't realize that it was the St. Patrick's day weekend. A few parts of town were a little rowdy, but overall, it didn't spoil our visit. In fact, there was a great free family festival going on in one of the other parks that we decided to take in. Micah loved all of the inflatables! At this one, you put a plastic ball at the top of this cone which shot out air and propelled the ball toward a basket. I don't know that he had much success making a basket, but Micah had a blast with letting the balls go! He made his way back here several times throughout our visit!


Micah loved this inflatable slide! He likes pretty much any slide, but he especially likes the inflatable ones. He was also very interested in a bouncy room that was shaped like a carousel, but as soon as he would get in, he would get scared. However, he kept wanting to try it, and eventually once he could get towards the middle and maintain his footing for a while, he really enjoyed it! As soon as he fell down though, that was the end, and he wanted out!


This slide was actually at the end of a very long inflatable obstacle course. Every time we passed it, Micah wanted to go on it, and it was hard to explain to him why he couldn't. Finally, we saw another dad take his young son through, so Andrew decided that he would take Micah too. It was definitely a work-out for Andrew, but Micah loved it!


As we headed back home on Sunday, we made a stop at the outlets. Micah was a trooper as we shopped, and was rewarded by getting to play on the various moving vehicles they had. This "reward" is still free too, since Micah isn't actually so sure about them moving. He just likes climbing and sitting in them and pushing the buttons. It was a great, relaxing time in the beautiful city of Savannah!
