Saturday, September 26th was Smithsonian Day, and you could get in to any Smithsonian affiliated museum for free! We were off that weekend, so we took Micah to the South Carolina State Museum. We weren't sure how much Micah would enjoy it, but there turned out to be a lot of hands-on exhibits that Micah loved! His favorite exhibits were the "choo-choos." Here we are in a railroad car, Micah was actually a little intimidated by it and the whistle that you could blow by pulling a rope. He preferred the miniature trains that you could make go by pushing buttons. That was a winner!
Micah made a friend while watching the trains. They both did great taking turns making the trains go!
This was in the Science part of the museum. They had quite a few exhibits where kids can see science in action. This little guy would "walk" down a ramp after rocking it to get it started. Micah loved watching it go. He tried to do it himself a few times too!
Here, Micah & Mommy are trying to move a wooden doll up two ropes. Micah tried to make it move by pulling both ropes with all of his might...it was cute but he got frustrated because the doll wouldn't move. He didn't quite get the concept that you need to pull one string and then the other. We had a great time at the museum learning a little more about South Carolina and the world around us. It was also a great time together as a family!
